OpenOutreach is a self-hosted, open-source sales agent for business-to-business lead generation that works entirely over email and avoids browser automation, social-network accounts and scraping. The user supplies a product description and a campaign objective, and a language model converts that into an ideal-customer-profile filter used to page matching firmographic records from a licensed discovery source, BetterContact Lead Finder, which returns profiles without contact addresses and costs nothing to query. A Gaussian process regressor over profile embeddings scores the pool so that expensive steps are spent on the most promising candidates first, balancing exploration and exploitation; a language model then classifies each selected candidate and the decision is fed back into the model. The README states plainly that this learning loop is an active experiment and is not yet shown to beat random selection. Only candidates that pass a confidence gate trigger a paid work-email lookup, one credit per verified hit, and a hit routes the lead into agentic email: an agent writes and sends a personalised opener from the user mailbox, reads replies and runs multi-turn follow-up. Everything runs locally, the resulting CRM is browsable in a web interface, and deployment is a single Docker command with interactive onboarding that verifies the LLM key, the SMTP mailbox credentials and the discovery key on first run; a local Python 3.12 install path exists for contributors. Requirements are an LLM API key for OpenAI, Anthropic or an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, a BetterContact key and a mailbox the user controls. The project funds itself partly through affiliate links and, in freemium campaigns, by sending a maintainer-configured fraction of messages promoting OpenOutreach itself from the user mailbox, which the documentation describes in a legal notice.
