BeeBot is an Autonomous AI Assistant designed to perform a wide range of practical tasks autonomously, acting as a personal worker bee for users. The project is currently on hold due to limitations in current large language models (LLMs) in late 2023, particularly in structured thinking, reliable outcomes, and instruction adherence. The developer plans to revive the project if LLMs improve significantly, if a custom model specialized for autonomous AI can be developed, or if a specific subset of tasks where BeeBot performs well is identified. BeeBot features include tool selection via AutoPack, the ability to acquire more tools during task execution, built-in persistence, a REST API conforming to the e2b standard, a websocket server for event publishing, swappable filesystem emulation for flexible file storage, a forthcoming web UI for task management, dynamic history manipulation during task execution, and built-in caching with Helicone if enabled. The project supports SQLite and recommends using Postgres via Docker for persistence. Users can interact with BeeBot through a command-line interface or via the API, which supports task creation and step execution. A websocket connection is available for receiving real-time notifications, although this feature is undergoing rework. A web interface is in development using Node.js and Remix. The development philosophy prioritizes functionality, flexibility, reliability, efficiency, and convenience in that order. BeeBot emphasizes tool-focused design, leveraging multiple LLMs with OpenAI as the primary model for planning and decision-making. The project adopts unorthodox methodologies such as the absence of unit tests in favor of end-to-end testing and only adopts new concepts after they have proven to enhance its priorities. Documentation is minimal but evolving, with community contributions encouraged. Overall, BeeBot aims to be a flexible and reliable autonomous AI assistant capable of handling diverse tasks through intelligent tool use and LLM integration, though it is currently paused awaiting advancements in AI capabilities.
