MoLing is a locally deployed, dependency-free office AI assistant that functions as a computer-use and browser-use MCP server. It interacts with the operating system through APIs to perform various system operations such as file system management including reading, writing, merging, statistics, and aggregation, as well as executing system commands. MoLing is designed to be run directly without requiring any additional dependencies, making it compatible across multiple operating systems like Windows, Linux, and macOS, although it has been primarily tested on macOS. This eliminates the common issues related to environment conflicts with Node.js, Python, Docker, and other development environments. The server supports command-line operations and browser control powered by the chromedp library, which requires Chrome browser installation and configuration, especially on Windows where the full path to Chrome must be set in system environment variables. MoLing supports multiple MCP clients such as Claude, Cline, and Cherry Studio, enabling seamless integration with these platforms through simple configuration files or automatic installation commands. MoLing offers two operation modes: a CLI-based interactive Stdio mode for user-friendly interaction and an SSE mode optimized for headless or automated environments. The project provides multiple installation options including script-based installation for Linux/MacOS and Windows (though Windows support is not fully tested), direct download of prebuilt binaries, and building from source using the Golang toolchain. Future plans for MoLing include enhancing personal PC data organization, document writing assistance, schedule planning, and additional life assistant features. The project is open-source under the Apache License 2.0, encouraging community contributions and usage in office automation tasks. Overall, MoLing aims to simplify office automation by providing a powerful, easy-to-use, and dependency-free AI assistant that integrates deeply with the operating system and browser environments through the MCP protocol.
