Claude Scientific Writer combines AI-driven deep research with formatted written output. It performs research before writing so that claims are supported by real, verifiable sources, then produces publication-ready scientific papers, reports, posters, grant proposals, literature reviews and other academic documents. Stated features are real-time research lookup through Parallel Search and Extract, intelligent paper detection, comprehensive document conversion and AI-powered diagram generation. It requires Python 3.10 or newer and an Anthropic API key; Parallel CLI authentication or a Parallel API key supplies research lookup and web search, an OpenRouter key is optional and enables generation of schematics, figures, slides and infographics, and a LaTeX distribution with pdflatex, bibtex and preferably latexmk is needed for PDF output. LibreOffice is optional for Office rendering and recalculation, and FFmpeg for media conversion. Three usage modes are supported. As a Claude Code plugin, which the README recommends, the repository is added as a plugin marketplace, the plugin is installed, the editor restarted and an init command run that writes a CLAUDE.md with scientific writing instructions and makes twenty-six selected skills available; requests are then written in natural language, naming the data files and figures to include and describing the target venue, such as a paper built from a CSV of measurements plus image files, or a grant proposal with a timeline spreadsheet. As a CLI it installs from PyPI as scientific-writer, with optional extras for cohort statistics and survival analysis and for DOCX, PPTX and XLSX handling, and exposes flags for effort level, permissions, budget, token usage and input consumption, preserving input files unless consumption is requested explicitly. As a Python package it exposes an asynchronous paper generation function that takes a query and a list of data files and yields streamed updates of type text, progress and result, the last carrying the path of the final PDF and the figures included.
